Nurse Resume Templates for New Grads
As a new grad, your resume should lead with what proves you're safe and ready on day one:
- License and certifications first: RN (or NCLEX date), BLS, ACLS, and PALS if you have it.
- Clinical rotations as experience: list each unit, hospital, hours, and patient load.
- Your capstone or practicum: this is your strongest "job," so give it three or four bullets.
- Healthcare jobs you've held: CNA, patient care tech, or EMT experience counts.
Choose a single-column nursing resume template so hospital ATS systems like Workday and Taleo read it correctly. For a full walkthrough, see our new grad nurse resume guide.
ER Nurse Resume: What to Highlight
Emergency department hiring managers look for speed, triage judgment, and volume. On an ER nurse resume, include:
- Trauma level, bed count, and annual visits for each ED you've worked in
- ESI triage experience and patients per shift
- Certifications: TNCC, ENPC, and CEN once you're eligible
- Results like door-to-provider times, sepsis bundle compliance, or trauma activations

LPN and LVN Resume Examples
LPN and LVN resumes follow the same structure, but the scope of practice is different, so be precise about what you did under RN supervision.
LPN resume example bullet: "Administered scheduled medications and wound care for 20 long-term care residents per shift with zero medication errors in 18 months."
LVN resume example bullet: "Monitored vitals and documented changes for 12 post-surgical patients per shift, escalating 4 early warning signs to the charge RN."
LPN is the title used in most states; LVN is used in California and Texas. Use the title from your license and the job posting.
LPN Job Description for Resume: Turn Duties Into Results
Common LPN duties include administering medications, monitoring vital signs, wound care, collecting specimens, and updating patient charts. Copying those duties onto your resume won't set you apart. Add scale and outcomes instead:
- "Collected and labeled 40+ lab specimens per shift with 100% labeling accuracy"
- "Updated care plans for 15 residents weekly in PointClickCare"
- "Trained 3 new CNAs on fall-prevention protocols, cutting unit falls by 20%"
